The Nineteenth Amendment

The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged 
by the United States or by any State on account of sex.
Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
The Nineteenth Amendment is by far the most impactful amendment for women’s rights in the Constitution. In 
response to the Women’s Right Movement, the 19th amendment finally gave them the right to vote. This 
amendment paved the way for women eventually running and being elected for office. 


This video demonstrates the long fight for women’s suffragists in eventually obtaining the right to vote. It goes throughout the 
near 70 year long journey of the women’s suffrage movement until the final ratification of the nineteenth amendment.



This article focuses on the final push of the women’s rights movement into finally achieving the nineteenth amendment and the 
right to vote. It goes through the journey of the amendment’s ratification through the states and concerns about being passed. 
It also describes the immediate aftermath of the ratification for women.

The Sixteenth Amendment

The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from  whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States,  and without regard to any census or enumeration. The Sixteenth Amendment gave Congress the right to collect income tax. This amendment is still significant  today as a century later Congress still collects income tax from workers. This amendment also reversed the  decision of Pollock v.
